I strongly recommend reading part 1 before continuing with this story. This is the “subplot” where the maid from the previous story runs away. Why though?

Alright, let’s get started!

After the childbirth fiasco, she came back and continued to keep working for us. There wasn’t any change in behavior or even anything noticeable.

Let’s skip forward to February 2021, nothing really happened in that duration, just the usual life.

So, here’s her standard routine:

  • she starts off her day working with us, to complete our morning chores
  • leaves for the day around 11 am, works outside in multiple places
  • comes back in the evening around 4 pm, where she helps us with our evening chores
  • stays with us for the night
  • and repeat.

Also, it’s February 2021 now, covid restrictions have significantly reduced, so, it wasn’t a surprise to us when she went out, just saying that she had work.

It’s 4 pm now, but she isn’t back, I wasn’t concerned, she might have been stuck somewhere, no big deal. My mom was a little worried and started to call her, but she didn’t answer. I told my mom to not worry about it, and we carried on with our day.

It’s 5 pm now, and still, she isn’t back, my mom tried calling her again, this time she answered, all she said that she was “in the room”, my mother tried asking which room and where, but she just replied that she was “in the room”. I thought that she is out with her friends, probably partying or having fun, and probably doesn’t intend to come back for the night. While my mom was pretty anxious that she didn’t know her location, I shrugged it off and carried on with my day.

It’s 6 pm now, and she isn’t back, my dad just came back from work, I had no hope that she would return today, although, I was fairly certain she would come back tomorrow instead. This time, the call went from my dad’s phone, she answered the call, and she replied that she was at her friend's place, and will be coming back soon. Me, my dad, and my brother weren’t concerned, but my mom was very angry at this point, she hadn’t been out this late before without informing her; regardless, we carried on with our day.

It’s 7 pm now, and she isn’t back. We had one of our tenants come in who had racked up a huge electricity bill and hadn’t paid it due to negligence. So, we had him come over, and it was turning into a heated argument at that point. Now, this is when she calls my mom and, says: “Hello? Yes, I was very scared to tell you this, but I’m going away, I just got married”.

🤯
Are you freaking kidding me? We are stuck in another argument, and this lady, without information, decides to get married?
We quickly ended the conversation about the electrical bill, which is a story for some other time. #Setup 🤭

Alright, let’s get it back together, she has run away, but where, with whom, and with what? These were the questions that we wanted to answer.

We called her back, she answered, and this is how the conversation went :
“Where are you?”
“I’m at his place, I won’t be coming back from now”
“That doesn’t answer the question, what place?”
“It’s just his place, I won’t come back for tonight, you can let it be”
“Who is the person? What’s his name?”
“He is a good friend of mine, and we have been in love for a long time, he has a job, so you don’t need to worry about me.”
“Do your parents know about this?”
“Yes, they do, I had informed them about this earlier.”
“Why did you not tell anything to us?”
“...”
“You didn’t take anything when you left the house, how are you going to manage?”
“My husband will give everything I need to me”
“Your husband? Where did you get married? The court? The temple?”
“No, we got married in his room.”
“What? You have got to be joking right? Stop this nonsense and come back now.”

And she disconnected the call here, making my mom even more furious. After this call, I suggested checking everything in the house, as she could have stolen things and exited, although, after working several years she had never stolen anything, and with visible confusion, we proceeded to check.

I had the most mixed feeling in my life when I realized that, she had not even taken her phone’s charger as she left.
I was kind of relieved that she didn’t take anything that didn’t belong to her.
I was kind of sad that she didn’t even take her clothes.
I was kind of worried that she didn’t even take her official documents.
I wanted to laugh, as she didn’t even take her charger.

This made us deduce that she didn’t plan the escape, anyone with half a brain would have taken the most basic stuff with them before running away, at least one bag worth of things important to them, but nope, she just left with her phone in the pocket and nothing more.

We called her parents, and it wasn’t surprising to know that she didn’t inform her parents as well. This made my mother even more furious, who was nearly at her breaking point. I was very concerned that they may file a police complaint, but, her father said that there is no point in filing such a case, as she ran away with her own consent, and the police will not do anything in this scenario.

We slept it off that night because there was nothing we could do at this point, and we were certain that she would return, due to the sheer number of things she had left behind.

In fact, make your guess on how many days after which she would come back because she didn’t have her stuff? I guessed about a week. 😝

To my surprise, the callback came in only 3 days, when she had already felt the lack of her clothes. My mother still in her fury, replied that her husband can get her new ones, and she doesn’t have to return here.

Regardless, after another week, she managed to call her father, who managed to talk down my mother into at least letting her get her stuff back. So, then came the day when she would come in and pack up, and this is how much stuff she had when she was leaving.

Even I don’t have this much stuff for myself 🤣

Well, after the packing was done, and she was ready to leave, she did apologize to all of us for causing inconvenience, my mother reluctantly accepted it and she also said that she would visit us every month to help out in case if we ever needed her.

Later on, in her next visit, she did say that she moved to a place a bit far from where we were, and she was asking my mother tips on how to manage her new home. 🤣

I’ll update you if there’s a more interesting story if it happens. 🤭

Ending notes

Despite such a fiasco of an exit, we still have somewhat of a connection, and we’ve somewhat let go of what happened. Either way, I hope you enjoyed this story, I wanted to express how every hour things got more and more complicated until everything blew over. I sort of tried to represent it with longer and longer paragraphs as time went by in the story.

Thank you for reading till the end, and let me know if you what you think. 😁
